For professionals

A home equity solution you can put in front of a client.

A regulated home equity loan, secured against the home and typically over an eight-year term, from a registered credit provider.

Our agreements are written in plain language that your client and their family can read.

It is designed to sit inside a retirement cash-flow, estate or property plan, not to replace one. We encourage your client to take advice.

The mechanics

  1. What it is

A home equity loan secured against your home, typically over an eight-year term, for homeowners typically aged 65 and over. You borrow against your home, you remain the owner and continue to live in it during the term, and interest is added to the balance until the loan is repaid.

  2. How it is paid

You can typically receive monthly payments or, subject to assessment, an upfront lump sum. You make no monthly repayments during the term.

  3. How it is sized

The amount advanced is typically a conservative share of the home's value, taking into account age, the value and location of the home, and the interest rate environment.

  4. How the balance moves

Interest is added to the balance until the loan is repaid, including after payments to you stop. We show you this before you decide.

  5. How it ends

The loan typically runs for eight years. In the later years of the term we usually review the position with you so that you can plan ahead. Any continuation beyond the term is subject to that review.
